Hi Diana,

If no one has replied to you personally & you still have the problem, try
doing the following:

1) Boot from your System CD. (To do so start the computer & press on the
letter 'C' key until the startup indicates it is from the CD).

2) Run Disk First Aid from your CD. It is in the Utilities folder. Try the
repair function. If it works & says your HD is repaired then all is well
(hopefully). Restart your computer again & this time from the HD.

3) If you still have a problem then a utility program like TechTools, Disk
Warrior or Norton utilities may help to fix your HD.

4) Finally, after your HD is fixed consider upgrading your OS to ver 9.1 or
better yet, 9.2.1. These are free upgrades & you can download them from
Apple.

Hope this helps.

BTW like all computers, little errors slip into the OS every now & then.
However on the Mac it is normally simple to fix problems.
