Need some help. I have a home network consisting of an iMac 400, Tower G3 300, Tower G4 DP450 and a TiBook 667 running a mixture of OS 9.2.2 and 10.1.2 . I have been attempting to add a 1.7 ghz XP box to the mix with poor results. I'm using TCP/IP over ethernet due to the OS 10 requirements.
I have not been successful with anything I've attempted to date, I've used all the white papers in Apples and Microsofts knowledge bases, magazine articles telling me how easy it is etc. etc. At one time I did get a ping both ways, but was unable to mount a share in either direction. The next time I booted up I couldn't even get a ping. I would like to do this WITHOUT resorting to a 3rd party program like PC McLan or Dave. I have tried making the XP box the host and the Macs clients, and vice-versa to no avail. If anyone has accomplished this please let me know how it was done.
