Ask them why you need it and ask them if they require VPN clients for their Windows customers too. You may want to switch to OS 9 just so you're a little more current but you shouldn't have to. Far as I know you might need POET with DSL to establish the authentication but if you get a router you won't even need that. If you have the option of a cable modem you may want to look into that over DSL.
