Richard, We've been very happy with the Asante FR1104-G, which is a 54 Mbps combo wired/wireless router. We disabled DHCP and other features so we could simply add it to the existing network as an access point.
I didn't see any PCI cards on their web site, but any brand card should work with it including 801.11b cards. This router works with Appletalk (not many do), which was important to support our old Laserwriter printers. Bonus: this router is on sale for $25 right now at TigerDirect.com. Hope this was helpful.
