PowerLogix announces 700, 733MHz upgrades
By ron carlson, Insanely Great Mac

If you''ve got a G4, these are the upgrades you''ve been waiting for

PowerLogix has announced a 700 MHz version of the PowerForce G4 Series 100 for
PowerMac G4s and Cubes, and a 733 MHz version of the PowerForce G4 Series 133. The new
models offer significant additional speed and the latest processor technology to
PowerMac G4 owners at a very affordable price.

"We have had a tremendous response from Mac users all around the world after our
announcement of the first 1GHz upgrade cards," said Robert Jagitsch, president,
PowerLogix. "Many customers told us they wanted additional speed in their PowerMac,
but they wanted it to be as affordable as possible. So, we decided to offer the 700MHz
model which offers the same speed as the LCD iMac for considerably less expense than
buying a new machine."

PowerLogix also announced the PowerForce Trade-Up Program, which allows customers to
select the affordable speed upgrade of their choice, and trade up later to a faster
processor. For example, a customer might decide to purchase a PowerForce G4 700 MHz
Series 100 for their PowerMac G4 AGP now, and may trade up to any faster model at a
later time. The Trade-Up program allows the customer to trade up for the difference in
the retail price of the two cards. Full program details will be available shortly on
the PowerLogix website.

The PowerForce G4 Series 100 upgrade cards are compatible with the following PowerMac
G4s running at 100 MHz bus: AGP Graphics (350, 400, 450, 500 MHz); Gigabit Ethernet
(single or dual 400, 450 or 500 MHz); and the Cube (450, 500 MHz)

The PowerForce G4 Series 133 upgrade cards are compatible with PowerMac G4s running at
133 MHz bus: digital audio (466, 533, 667, 733, dual 533 MHz); QuickSilver (733, 867,
dual 800 MHz); and QuickSilver 2002 (800, 933, dual 1GHz).

According to PowerLogix, PowerForce G4 Series 100 production is ramping up, so
supplies will be constrained for some time. PowerForce G4 Series 133 upgrades will be
available in August. Suggest retail prices range from $449 to $799, so check here for
model-specific info.
