How Fast is Jaguar v. 10.1.5 on Your Mac?
By Remy Davison, Insanely Great Mac
August 21st 2002

10.2.2 to jump a dot point, Jaguar may be "slow" on anything less than DP G4.

An IGM reader has alerted us to a few tidbits concerning the shipping version of
Jaguar, versus the one you might find pre-installed on your new Mac.

The information suggests that the retail box of Jaguar is a slightly later build than
what will be on the new Macs. Apple may even skip 10.2.1 and go straight to 10.2.2,
due to the number of bug fixes necessary.

One major issue remains: at MacOSXRumors recently, I was reading a review of Jaguar''s
performance on a low-end (233MHz) Wallstreet PowerBook, and was pleased to hear it
performed well and was pretty snappy, despite the lousy Rage Pro video card.

But our IGN reader suggests otherwise: Jaguar may seem slow on less-than-optimum
hardware; in fact, it appears that it may be slow on anything less than a
dual-processor Mac (and that means a Power Mac G4, obviously). No first-hand
experience here; just passing on what''s been said.

And one more thing of interest: "FontReserve 3.1 will be
supporting 10.2 and should be available around the 26th."

Thanks for the heads-up.
