By Michael Flaminio, Insanely Great Mac

Select Starbucks locations get "wired" for wireless Internet access.
Those looking to surf while waiting for or drinking their coffee may be able to do so
at a near by Starbucks. The coffee boutique announced 1200 stores will offer wireless
Internet access, with up to 2000 by the end of the year.
The wireless access is provided by T-Mobile as a 802.11b WiFi network. Apple''s
AirPort technology is compatible with WiFi networks. AirPort-equipped Macs are able to
go wireless with the installation of a $99 Apple AirPort card. Other computers can
upgrade using similar third-party options available.
T-Mobile is charging a fee for the service. The service is available through unlimited
monthly access, pre-paid access and metered access. Monthly rates are available at $30
for specific markets and and $50 national service. The service is to be able for a
24-hour trial for first time users. The T-Mobile service is also available at
locations beyond Starbucks such as airports and shopping areas.
