Apple iSync Uninstall posted to root out beta iApp
By Michael Flaminio, Insanely Great Mac
October 17th 2002
Apple Thursday posted iSync Uninstall, a utility to remove the company's recently
released software from a computer.
Mac users looking to remove iSync from their computer can now use iSync Uninstall 1.0
to make the job a little easier. When installed, iSync places a number of files on the
computer. Removing them by hand can be a tedious hunting adventure. iSync, which is
still in beta development, offers users a way to synchronize computers, PDAs, cell
phone and Apple's iPod.
The make synchronization possible, iSync installs libraries, frameworks, and other
files such as preferences and sync data throughout Mac OS X. This data is removed in
one step by the new application. Apple states that original data for the Address Book,
iCal and Palm software will remain intact.
The iSync Uninstall can be convenient for Mac users who tried out iSync and but later
choose not to use it. Also, Apple notes that a future version of iSync may require
that the beta version be removed prior to installation.
In recent weeks, IGM has published tutorials for using iSync. Articles cover using
iSync and .Mac to sync data on multiple Macs and a review iSync with the Sony/Ericsson
T68i cellphone and Bluetooth.
