New PowerBook Imminent? AppleStore Extends Wait on TiBook

Delivery times extended as November 5 appears to be date for TiBook refresh.
Predictions that Apple will revise its PowerBook G4 line on November 5 appear accurate
as the AppleStore has extended its delivery time on TiBooks from 1-2 days to 3-5 days.
Apple has been widely tipped to up processor speeds on November 5, although recent
reports suggest the updated model will not include a DVD-R SuperDrive, although the
jury is still out on whether this will be the case.
Given that Apple reported almost a 40% drop in PowerBook sales in its most recent
quarterly statement, it appears odd that the company would extend the waiting time for
the new PBs from its usual 1-2 day wait for non-BTO models.
While the anticipated update may not take place on November 5, it appears almost
certain that Apple will refresh the PowerBook line in time for Xmas sales. It is also
possible that Apple will give the iBook a specification bump at the same time in order
to keep the model range competitive in the all-important Xmas buying season.
