Canon: Scanner drivers coming next week
By ron carlson, Insanely Great Mac
November 6th 2002

After several delays, an updated X.2.x-compatible driver for various scanner models
will ship next week

MacFixit reports today (Nov 6, subscription required to view archives) that Canon USA
will finally ship an X.2.x-compatible driver that covers many if not most of the
models offered by the company.

This information has been confirmed by a senior Canon USA manager.

Previously, Canon posted and then removed the Canon ScanGear CS 7.0.1 driver, which is
still available from VersionTracker. Some MacFixit users have reported that ScanGear
CS 7.0.1 delivered limited functionality and can cause problems when Classic is
running.

Editor's note: Are Canon scanners not supported by Jaguar's very-handy-indeed Image
Capture app? Granted, it wouldn't be surprising if some discreet features are not
support. Input anybody?
