FWB adds Partition Toolkit
By ron carlson, Insanely Great Mac
November 27th 2002
A nifty tool to create and alter disk partitions essentially on the fly
FWB has released Partition Toolkit. This app allows users to resize Mac formatted
volumes to make them smaller and then use the new free space to create a new extra
volume in the format of their choice. The four formats supported by Partition Toolkit
for volume creations include HFS (Mac OS Standard File System), HFS+ (Mac OS Extended
File System), MS-DOS, and LinuxPPC.
Partition Toolkit 1.0 is now available for $24.95 (SRP) and requires a PowerMac
runningClassic (8.6 or higher), 16 MB of available RAM and a SCSI or IDE hard disk.
Editor's note: It's definitely a pity that this app doesn't run under X. Given its
need for direct hardware access, it's somewhat doubtful that it will run in X's
Classic mode, though I definitely could be wrong about this. Taken at face value this
appears to a rather nifty tool.
