Music theory, ear training with a chewy Aqua GUI

Ars Nova has announced that Practica Musica 4.5, the award-winning music theory and
ear training software, is X compatible and shipping today.

New features in this point-five update include:
 OS X compatibility (doesn't use classic mode). A separate version is also included
for use with OS9 (9.1 or greater);
 Automatically connect to MIDI via OS X -- no more OMS or other third-party MIDI
management required;
 Vocalis voice input technology that allows the user to sing or play in activities,
such as Pitch Reading, using any standard computer microphone;

Additionally, a number of activities have been added or revised for use with the
microphone. These include Repeat Pitches, Transposable Pitch Reading (for use with
transposing instruments) and the standard Pitch Reading activity itself.

The standard and student editions of the upgrade can be downloaded $30. A boxed
version of the upgrade (for upgrading from versions 2.x or 3.x) is available for $40.
The hard copy version also includes a textbook.

Editor's note: As a "lapsed" musician, I'm aching to sharpen my chops and get back on
the scene. Is Practica Musica a good starting point for the out of practice practicing
musician?
