ATI Releases Radeon 9700 Pro for New Power Mac G4s

Top of the line Macs get top of the line graphics cards.
ATI has made its Radeon 9700 Pro available as a build-to-order option on Apple's
newly-released Power Mac G4s.
"These are the most powerful and affordable Power Macs we have ever shipped," said
Greg Joswiak, Apple's vice-president of worldwide product marketing. "We are excited
by the blazing performance, leading-edge features and movie-quality cinematic effects
the Radeon 9700 Pro delivers to our creative professional customers."
The 9700 Pro features include 256-bit DDR memory interface, providing over 20
GB/second of graphics memory bandwidth, and eight parallel rendering pipelines provide
the brute force to process over 2.5 billion pixels per second.
The Power Macs ship with the Radeon 9000 as standard equipment, as did the superseded
G4s. Base models ship with an nVidia chipset. although the 9700 can be optioned into
an Power Mac model. The 9700 Pro can be ordered with new G4s at the Apple Store.
