I've sent a private response to silverstrim (I'm afraid I didn't catch
his real name). I am sorry my post was so ill formed and so easily
misconstrued and I do apologize. My comment, poorly worded and
decontextualized as it was, was not intended to offend. I am
intimately aware of the stresses of health problems (my wife is dying
of cancer). When I see people getting worked up over something as
inconsequential as email when there are many larger issues at hand, I
have a visceral reaction--obviously my viscera doesn't write well.
While I am amazed (and, to be fair, annoyed) by the vehemence of the
fans of bottom posting, it is just email after all, and my sentiment,
if not my words as conveyed in plain text, is a genuine one of
questioning. Why let ourselves get so worked up over email and descend
into name calling? Let's take a break.
In addition to apologizing the silvertsrim, I apologize to the list as
it was my initial response to Shoop that fed the fire of this mess.
