Thanks Eric, I did try the archive and install (now the default
install).
I thought that would work but now I get solid horizontal black & white
lines.
Interestingly, the lines changed to blue and white after some fiddling.
Strange this didn't work.
I might erase OS partition, clean install, then CCC extra files on top.
Could take a while an I suspect it may fail too.
Roll on 10.6.4.

It does no harm to reapply a combo updater, so you might try that at
any rate.
If that doesn't work, your next best bet is probably an archive and
install over the top of the cloned HD using the new MBP SL System
disc.
