I understand the difference between an update and a full version of the OS. However, whenever we were discussing 10.6.4 I was thinking of applying that update to 10.6.3 on the old MBP and then cloning the full 10.6.4 version to the new MBP.
Whilst doing this last night I noticed problems in the log with the ScreenRecycler kernel extension and possibly the SoundFlower kernel extension. I removed those and now everything seems to be fine. SR was probably the cause of my horizontal lines ... 10.6.3 updated to "reference" 10.6.4 on the old MBP cloned to the new MBP seems to be working fine. I was always under the impression that any up-to-date version of MacOSX would run fine on any previously released and still supported hardware. It seems that is the case.
