I'm in the process of creating a NetBoot image using a 27" Late 2009 iMac which is a "iMac11,1" and it shipped with 10.6.2 (10C2234). I tried to make a NetBoot image from the computer itself, built with it's own bundled installer disc. The computer boots fine...but NetBoot doesn't work. So I opened an Enterprise Support ticket with Apple, got final word a moment ago. NetBooting the new i5/i7 computers is not currently supported. The engineer also stated what Dan had already stated...the 10.6.4 combined update may not include the machine specific resources required by these new computers (which include the Mid-2010 MacBook Pros). The ticket was closed and stamped "Unresolved - No workaround". Now that 10.6.4 was released, I'm going to give it a shot anyway. I've got a 27" Late 2009 iMac (iMac11,1) wiped, installed minimal OS using bundled disk, ran software update until all updates were applied. Now I'm using SIU to create the NetBoot image. Will shout back when I have results. Fingers crossed...
