i have one of those, it is a uglier than the comparable Apple item,

i'm not sure whether to suspect the monoprice adapter in hangs i get
when i plug in the attached Apple 23" HD Cinema Display (DVI); these
hangs are about 1 in 10 or 20 times, but i don't have any hangs at all
using the Apple adapter to plug the same MacBook Pro 13" into a Samsung
display (there is also a Monoprice Mini Displayport extension cable in
this latter chain)
i've seen some discussion threads where others have this issue, but no
resolution
