Right-clicking gives all apps able to open text (approx 14 apps on my
Mac) incl. TextEdit on top as standard.
AND, moreover, mousing there on the top opens TextEdit quite normally.
Nevertheless, when TextEdit is closed, doubleclicking a file does not
work....More than strange
