Right-clicking gives all apps able to open text (approx 14 apps on
my Mac) incl. TextEdit on top as standard.
AND, moreover, mousing there on the top opens TextEdit quite
normally. Nevertheless, when TextEdit is closed, doubleclicking a
file does not work....More than strange
Could it be that the Finder bindings (LaunchServices database) are
gone haywire? You can fix those with some Terminal commands or --it
seems, didn't try it-- with Cocktail.
Already done, that was one of the standard actions by MainMenu. No
success so far...
