I have a friend who has populated his entire office with minis, replacing larger more 'capable' desktop machines as they expired. His employees' desks are clear of everything. The monitors are on VESA arms, the keyboards are in keyboard drawers, and there's not a wire in sight. It's got a decent processor, a good video card (good enough for 1080p video, a mini DisplayPort, an HDMI port, gigabit Ethernet, 802.11n, BT 2.1 EDR, and an SD reader. It is obviously designed to be hooked up to an HDTV. The current mini is not the same mini that Apple introduced, and it is not targeting the same users. It's targeted at people like my friend who want small, quiet, and cool for their offices, to home users who want an HTPC, or for general Mac users who want a second machine. The fact is, Apple's computer sales are doing very well, they are still getting about half their customers who are new to the platform, and they prefer having an Apple quality computer than a lowball white box that will not satisfy anyone since the bottom feeders who claim Apple's are too expensive are really not interested in a Mac at any price, they're building their own machines for $400-500 and think they're being smart. They will build a "just like" mini on their own. It will be 5 times the size, will not have wireless or HDMI, will put out 30-50dB more noise, generate 50-100W more heat, but it will be 'cheaper' and therefore better. Those people are not Apple's customers. On the other hand, I am REALLY looking long and hard at that mini server. the dual hard drives and additional RAM are not a bad option for $300 more, and then to get OS X Server essentially for free on top of that? Microsoft will crumble without any help from Apple.
