I have this setup. My Mac Mini is a circa summer 09 one. Not the latest. I don't really use the DVR function much as we don't watch a lot of TV. Just occasionally. I cannot get into much details as I only use it infrequently but those times I have used it it worked fine (including HD). Get a big disk... EyeTV has an online TV Guide sort of thing (and you can subscribe to the real TV Guide service after a trial period if you want) so you can set up recording schedule based on that or by time IIRC.
