Because I'd like to take this opportunity to start writing "native" code on my

I actually tried thisservice a few days ago and for some reason I could not 
register the service properly. I'll give it another try.

The problem is the packaging in Automator. I've already written small things in 
Applescript or bash and they run fast enough on their own, but putting that in 
Automator makes the service unreliably slow. I mean it can be fast sometimes, 
and not responsive at all other times and I'd have to hit the associated 
shortcut a number of times before Automator sends me anything etc...
