Hi Vince,

I tried googling, but I could not find anything (at least not yet) about any of 
this.

The only thing I found was stuff about Applejack, which will allow diagnostics 
from single user mode, but it has to be already installed on the boot drive.  A 
friend long ago told me to install this, but apparently I forgot, as I get a 
message saying the command is not recognized :(
