Right, and that's the command I used, and got "No index" as a result:

I did notice that the .Spotlight-V100 tree files on the suspect drive were 
owned by root:_unknown instead of root:admin. Changing that seems to have 
worked, but I don't know why, as I mv'd the .Spotlight-V100 directory to a 
different name and still got the "No index" result.

Oh well, can't complain about success I guess...
