all it takes is lots of tabs in one or more browsers; i see it all the time on my 16GB machine; i currently have 94 tabs open in Safari, somewhat less in Chrome; these two are by far the biggest culprits in generating, at the moment, 11GB of swap
answer to i.am.list.boy's question is to examine his app usage and modify his behavior, or just not worry about it (swap on an SSD is not as big a deal, though it takes space)
