Thanks for all answers. 
objectwerks had brought it to the point: I'm not in a general need for a 
backup/syncing program, because I frequently backup to several external HD's 
(applescript automated with ccc or chronosync).

What I did look for is a file recovery utility which allows a user do recover 
files accidentally deleted. 
The demo mode of the 3 "market leaders" I've tested so far had a so poor 
showing that I think it's hard to be convinced to spend 80 to 100 Dollars for a 
product...
