Since mid-September (roughly, but not exactly around the time I upgraded to
Yosemite), I have run into this Finder annoyance.

I have an encrypted sparseimage in which I keep information that needs to stay
secure. I open it daily, and close it when I'm done.

The top level of this volume has always been set to open up in list mode, like
pretty much every other folder on my Mac. But in mid-September, it started
opening up in icon mode.

I've made all the obvious attempts — set it to list mode and closed the window,
then re-opened it ("Welcome, Icons!"); used command-J to force it into list
mode (no change whatsoever), quit XtraFinder and did all of the above directly
in the Finder (same non-success). I even went into the terminal and deleted
the leftover Desktop* files and .DS_Store so it would be rebuilt from scratch.
It opens up in icon mode no matter what I do.

Is there something I haven't tried?
