I'm on El Capitan and I've noticed that Mail did not behave properly for a
little while. It would crash at startup, it would not display the contents for
mailboxes (standard or "smart") if would not handle filters on flags etc.

So last night I tried to rebuild my inbox. Then I dumped the Envelope and
reimported everything, I did that twice because it was not working properly and
they I realised that my main (work) account had all its mails erased.

I checked the contents of ~/Library/Mail/V3 etc and indeed, my inbox (but not
the sent/drafts etc) was empty.

No panic, I have a Time Capsule backup so I just restored the inbox, reimported
everything but even though I had close to 2GB in data *before* the import, at
then end I was left again with an empty inbox.

What has to be done to properly restore that inbox and get it properly imported
?
