Thank you Mark. I was not really aware of that. Kind of, but I had never tried. I don't have the hardware right at hand (we're in the long middle of moving to a new place) but I think all the hard drives we have are FireWire and I seem to remember that there were a number of Ethernet ports in the back of the TC but not that many FireWire ones. Also, the TC acts as a wifi router for the house (soon apartment) and I'd like to just turn it off in the evening so that the kids don't spend too much time on their devices in bed... But there is no switch, as far as I remember. Is there a convenient and safe way to achieve that? I thought of creating a separate wifi network with AirPort utility, but turning it on/off is not just one click away... Also, for the other replies. Thank you all. I've been running TM on wifi for years and even if it is a bit slow, it is extremely convenient and the safest way to have up-to-date automatic backups of our machines. I used to connect the laptops every night before, but sometimes you forget and then you forget again, etc. Wifi is what truly made that automatic. I'm not really planning to buy new hardware soon, except it that were something that helps make good use of all those hard drives I have laying around unused.
