That might work.
It would be nice if you could do some environment setup at login,
though. In NeXTStep and in Rhapsody, there was a file
~/.OpenStep/environment (I might have the name wrong) which was a plist
that you could put env vars and values into as key/value pairs. I don't
know if that still works. (That is, I don't know if that was a feature
of WorkSpace, which no longer exists; or of loginwindow, which does...)
