Output text to printer

How can I output the results of a script to a printer?

I've tried this:

#!/usr/bin/perl -w

open SPOOLER, "| /Library/Printers/EPSON/SC900.plugin"
                or die "this didn't work Bill: $!";

print SPOOLER "Hello Bill\n";

But it didn't work.
