I will report when I get things working after following your guide. A thought for the above page (although this could well apply to CPAN as well, CPAN really is for the entire Perl world, not just OS X) -- if you ever have used PHP or MySQL, their documentation sites provide the users to add their own comments. In the case of PHP, I find the user comments particularly useful because most users provide specific examples. For example, if you are looking at the page for the split function, then there will be a bunch of comments providing examples of how split can be used in various ways. This makes the docs a living site, constantly growing. Not as chaotic as a wiki, yet directly useful. www.perldoc.com is really cool, but doesn't have users adding their own comments. Besides, that's perldoc. Your page above is my_osx_adventures.com. Now you and others might think I am talking nonsense, but what if something like bricolage were used to create (or enhance your existing page) something like www.installing_various_nix_on_osx_doc.com or www.my_osx_adventures.com with the facility to add user comments. That would provide a one-stop place for advice to be rolled in instead of being scattered in various mailing list archives. if you think the above idea is crap, do let me know why. thanks for your guide anyway. pk/
