> 'cpan_home' => q[y], Silliness aside, there's nothing wrong with using "~/y". The problem is that the 'cpan_home' config item needs to have a full pathname, beginning with '/'. On my system, for example, it's the default: 'cpan_home' => q[/var/root/.cpan], sherm-- Never put off until tomorrow what you can do today. There might be a law against it by that time.
