and this is where linux has failed!

There does ned to be a concerted effort to make things simple.  
ActiveState made Perl easy on Windows, and I learned things from there.

I am all for everyone knowing how to configure, make, make test, install 
but maybe they can learn that AFTER they've been able to do some useful 
things...
