I'd like to second that - Yesterday I upgraded an old ActiveState Perl environment on our NT PDC, went straight into PPM to grab a bunch of packages the existing scripts required, and was all done in about 20 min - and no problems. A few weeks ago I set up and ran CPAN following Apple's directions and completely scrambled my Perl environment. (Though now I've decided to wait until I have upgraded to Jaguar before trying to fix it.) I am not a complete Perl (or *nix) doofus - but the OS X set up is just downright *arcane*. -- Ric Phillips Humanities & Social Sciences IT Unit La Trobe University 9479 2792
