Known and fixed, long ago. Whatever docs you read are seriously out of date. Recent LWPs check for a case-insensitive file system and default to not installing the "HEAD" alias if doing so would overwrite "head".
Does someone know where on the Panther installation discs the original head is located?
You can use Pacifist to find and extract it. Check Version Tracker, Google, etc.
