EXIF orientation tag?

According to the documentation for PerlMagic, Get('orientation') 
should return the orientation tag for the image.  I can't seem to get 
any result back for this  (ImageMagick-6.1.8, PerlMagick-6.20).  I 
checked the Magick.xs code, and it does not appear to actually 
mention orientation in the code.

Am I confused, or is this not supported?
I tried contacting the author directly with no luck, the email bounces.
Any other suggestions for reading the information?
