I don't know what you're trying to achieve, but you might want to look 
at a system called "elza" that does the kind of things you're 
describing. It's designed to be able to do things like test web sites 
and ensure that forms etc. are working correctly, or to automate 
downloads of things that people try to prevent you from automating etc. etc.

I can't remember where it lives, but I'm sure google will find it.
