I had assumed that the ports that installed into ${x11prefix} had some need to do so. I had not actually tried to use any of that software. If it works fine in ${prefix} then absolutely it should go there instead.

Yeah, I say move them to ${prefix}, and if they don't work there, fix
them so they do.

Ok, I'll atleast start working on that front while we debate the fate of dependencies.
