Some people are apparently using the XFree86 port on PureDarwin.
I've used XFree86 4.5.0 and XFree86 4.7.0 successfully with Darwin 8
(Darwin 7 came bundled with a system XFree86 4.3.0, so didn't need it)
I *think* PureDarwin.org and Darwin 9 are looking to upgrade to X.Org
eventually, but that it is not yet working with IOKit without Quartz ?
