I could add that rust is absolutely awful to build on small machines. This is not strictly related to MacOS, but on the tiny FreeBSD server I use to route private mails (like this one), having to install rust because clamav depends on it is a huge pain. Practically I can compile everything else from source, but with 2 GB RAM and 20 GB disk, compiling rust is a pipe dream. Everything else, python, perl, ruby… don’t pose such a challenge.
