I see the following output from `man groff_char' with version 1.22.3 of

/usr/bin/tbl:<standard input>:294: unrecognised format `O'
/usr/bin/tbl:<standard input>:294: giving up on this table
(many more similar lines following)
and the finally appearing manpage indeed does not contain the tables
listing the glyphs as it should. any ideas?
I can confirm that behavior under 10.11.1 with the groff port installed.
I guess OS X's man program is not able to read the groff port's manpage.
Installing the man port seems to work around this problem. Is that
satisfactory?
ah yes, never occured to me tht there might be a man port as well. thank
you for this solution. regarding "satisfactory": for my personal use, yes
it is. generally, I'd say no, since it seems osx's man does something
wrong/non-canonical, no?
