Could the ATI power throttle be a Gentoo thing since you're running gentoo and the gentoo website claims it works but it certainly doesn't on Ubuntu with a C2D MBP. Perhaps gentoo has some custom kernel mods that work better with the ATI driver? It would be weird if this is a C2D vs CD thing - I think the graphic cards are identical on the two of them. Anyone managed to get ATI throttle working on a C2D with gentoo?
