We should try it and ask them! I feel, you are qualified to ask them for
support for the SMC specs.

The applesmc features are fine, but we all experience differences to the
OSX one. I bought Hardwaremonitor, a tool which monitors a huge amount
of sensors. You can also extract these statistics to CSV. I hope to get
more informations, how temperatures, CPU speeds, fan speeds are related.

(My assumption is, the SMC kext does something similiar powernowd does
with a lot more sensors to consider.  On a first look it seems the CPU
is far more often at the lowest 1000 Mhz as with the ondemand or
powersave governor under Linux.)
