Hi Nick,

I presume it has power-saving features because Apple claims the new
MBP has as long a battery life as the MacBook (they say 6 hrs which
probably means 4.5 hrs realistically).  The main point for me is that
nvidia has much better drivers for Linux than ATI does.  They were
discussed on phoronix at some point where it was mentioned that the
performance of the nvidia cards in Linux is comparable to (and even
better on some tests) its performance in Windows whereas the ATI cards
score only about half as well on Linux as they do on Windows.  I don't
need great performance but this just an indicator of the much better
quality of the Nvidia drivers (though they're still closed source so
intel is the only morally decent graphics cards provider).

I'm still going to wait for someone who actually gets one of these to
report on how well they work under linux.
