Hi Gimli (and others), I'm about to put my V2 MBP on an online marketplace to try and sell it. I'm considering replacing it with an MBP V3 or maybe something else (like an MB or just some other more linux-friendly laptop).
Can you comment a little more on how linux runs on the V3 MBP? Do the fans still whir up all the time? Are there other driver issues that don't exist on the V2? Can you suspend? The more info the better. I think you probably know all the relevant issues. Also, can anybody with an MacBook (not Pro) comment on how they find Linux on these systems. I doubt I can live with the reduced display size though. I actually looked around for other laptops but the MBP is actually not a bad deal hardware wise so its not that easy to beat (if you want to keep the form factor and price range). What I really can't stand about the MBPs though is the horrible tilt angle of the screen (which makes it very hard to use on your lap), the very low DPI (1440x900 on a 15" is not very much) and the fact that, even in OS X, if you start doing any real compiling or anything serious your quiet little angel turns into an airplane. If anyone has recommendations for a similar but better and more linux friendly laptop I'd like to hear it (offline if you don't think its relevant to this list). cheers, Sheer On 7/10/07, gimli <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hi, > > the latest oss nvidia driver from http://gitweb.freedsektop.org > works on my 15" Macbook Pro V3. > > Happy Penguin > > Edgar (gimli) Hucek > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express > Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take > control of your XML.
