Ray I thought there used to be a keystroke defined to open dictionary but I 
don't see one.  I guess you could certainly define one in keyboard under system 
preferences, and a lot of programs will let you right-click and get access that 
way also.
I just used spotlight and typed in dictionary and it opened quite nicely.
