I wonder why I couldn't find Anne's tip in the Mail-archive. Oh well, I did the following for a consistent means of renaming a table.
1) route mouse to cell A1. 2) turn on mouse keys and press numrow 8 ((mouse up) 25 times. When VO is set to announce why is under the mouse, you will "a reference tab" at about the 20th press. 3) press "i" (mouse click) 3 times quickly. 4) turn off mouse keys and I am in table name edit field. 5) edit name field and press enter to exit edit mode.
