Hie there
I have not had this problem, except once lately when I was using my Braille
Edge 40 with my iPhone 5 S. I fixed it by telling Siri to turn on VoiceOver.
Although she responded by telling me that VoiceOver was already running, it
turned on the speech anyway. I don't understand this, but it worked, and I have
had this work before when VoiceOver got silent. I have not, however, had this
problem in Messages. I had it happen to me while doing an e-mail.

Regards,
Gigi
